AI Robotics Engineer
Contract / Side job / Full-time | Remote or ZREK Labs (Kawasaki)
About the role
We're looking for people interested in both frontier fields like robotics and AI and in long-established industries, and driven to put everything into building robotics solutions from Japan. We want engineers who open up new areas on their own, such as reinforcement learning and imitation learning.
What you'll do
- Develop robot control programs and packages with ROS 2 and VLAs, and design, build, and evaluate AI models
- Develop image-processing algorithms and analyze data in Python or C++
- Design environments for using AI, such as Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab
Requirements
Must have
- 2+ years of programming in Python or C++
- 1+ year developing packages with ROS 2
- Has built something with LLMs, VLMs, or VLAs, personally or professionally
- Drives your own work and keeps the team informed
- Values communication with the team
Nice to have
- Has taken the lead in building a machine or robot from scratch
- Has joined a robotics research project or startup
- Willing to dive into new tools and libraries with little documentation (e.g. Isaac Sim)
- Research experience in a master's or PhD program, such as computer vision or robotics
Who we're looking for
- Curious about cutting-edge technology and, just as much, about the industries that keep society running
- Enjoys learning while building, even when things are unfinished
- Respects other people's views while speaking in your own words
- Has your own standards and your own curiosity
- Gets excited by new problems
